Job Overview
Location: Woodstock, Ontario
Structure: Detached bungalow with front and back deck
Problem: Rat activity reported on the exterior and inside the home
Service: Rat control and monitoring
Visits: 3 visits
Summary
We attended a detached bungalow in Woodstock after the homeowner reported rat activity both outside and within the structure. Our team completed a full inspection, implemented an exterior baiting program, and monitored activity over multiple visits. Activity levels declined steadily, and by the final visit no further rat presence was reported inside the home.
Background / Property Context
The property is a detached bungalow with exterior decks and ground-level access points typical of residential construction in the area. Seasonal conditions and perimeter features provided sheltered areas along the foundation and siding.
Customer Concern
The homeowner was concerned about seeing rats outdoors and signs of possible interior activity. They requested confirmation of the source of the problem and guidance on treatment and prevention.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, disturbed insulation was observed in concealed structural voids, consistent with rodent movement. Exterior inspection identified multiple openings along the foundation line and at utility and siding transition points. Snow and soil conditions around the perimeter showed areas that could allow concealed rodent travel.

Cause Analysis
Rats are attracted to structures that offer shelter and consistent access along foundations and decks. Small gaps at ground level and around service penetrations can allow repeated entry. Exterior environmental cover combined with accessible openings likely contributed to ongoing activity.
Treatment / Removal
On the first visit, our licensed exterminator deployed large, weighted, tamper-resistant bait stations on the exterior in areas showing higher levels of activity. Stations contained commercial-grade rodenticide and were installed in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Interior monitoring devices were also placed to assess indoor activity levels. Andrew completed the on-site treatment and inspection.

Exclusion & Repairs
A detailed exterior exclusion inspection was completed, and several clear entry points were identified. Exclusion recommendations were provided to the homeowner; however, no sealing or repairs were completed during the service visits.
Outcome & Confirmation
At the second visit, exterior stations showed reduced bait consumption, indicating a declining exterior population. No rats were captured on interior monitoring devices. By the third visit, the homeowner reported no further rat activity inside the home. No new signs of activity were observed during follow-up, and the situation was considered resolved through treatment and monitoring.
Technician Notes
Andrew confirmed exterior and interior indicators of rat activity during the initial inspection. Progressive reduction in activity was documented over subsequent visits, with no further reports by the final follow-up.
